Many movie goers have been waiting almost 20 years to see Chris Tucker and Ice Cube reunite for a sequel to the classic 1995 comedy Friday. While it seemed like fans would never get to see Smokey and Craig on screen together again, Tucker recently revealed that he is open to the idea of another Friday movie and wants to participate in the pre-production for the potential film.
“I’m actually trying to help [the studio] come up with some ideas and be apart of the producing process with Cube to see if we can come up with something, so that might happen,” Tucker said during an interview with Sway Calloway’s Shade 45 radio program.
While Tucker may revive his Friday character, the weed-smoking, drug dealing Smokey from the first film would have to be different. The part would have to reflect Tucker’s faith and the person he is today.
“If I do a movie like Friday again it has to evolve,” adds the 42-year-old actor. “I evolved from Smokey when I was that age when I did that movie – from when I did Fifth Elementor even the first Rush Hour. So, every character I look at now I’m like can I play it because where I am right now, because I pull a lot from real life. I put a lot of myself in the characters.”
